Kurzbeschreibung:
Sign Here! Handwriting in the Age of New Media collects a series of articles from different fields, reaching from cultural and media studies, literature, film and art, philosophy, information studies, jurisprudence, and archival studies. The main questions addressed in this book: Will handwriting disappear in the age of new (digital) media? And what about the values of cultural and legal concepts, such as original, copy, authenticity, reproducibility, uniqueness, iterability? Where is the writing hand to be located if handwriting is performed not immediately „by hand“ but in a second medium? What is the relation of handwriting to a second medium in which it is depicted, reproduced, or remediated.
